As Americans crunch numbers to get the most out of their tax returns, scammers lurk just around the corner. Bad actors often take advantage of tax season anxiety to cause confusion and trick people out of their hard-earned money or their personal information.

MUNCIE, Ind. – First Merchants Corporation (NASDAQ: FRME) and Level One Bancorp, LLC (NASDAQ: LEVL) have finalized a merger of the two companies. Following regulatory approvals last month, the companies consummated their legal closing through a cash/stock transaction effective April 1, 2022. As previously announced in late 2021, Level One Bank will also merge with and into First Merchants Bank.

First Merchants Bank has been named a top 20 financial institution by S&P Global Market Intelligence. The ranking looks at the performance of public banks above $10 billion in assets throughout the United States. Indiana-based First Merchants Bank ranks as the country’s 19th top performing bank for 2021.
