Investors brushed off trade conflict concerns and geopolitical turmoil ahead of the G-7 Summit this past weekend with U.S. equities posting solid gains for the week.

U.S. stocks staged a fairly broad-based rally this past week to recover early losses from Tuesday that were tied to political uncertainties in Italy and the escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and major economic allies, in addition to the current dispute with China.

Despite some oil price turbulence that weighed on energy stocks and mounting geopolitical tensions, the U.S. stock market managed to eke out small gains this past week.

U.S. stocks closed mostly lower for the week as investors continued to grapple with the uncertainty over rising rates and geopolitical concerns.

Positive U.S. economic reports this past week, including continued job market strength and lower than anticipated inflation growth, pushed the stock market to its best weekly gain since March.
