Be aware that criminals are sending text messages to customers and non-customers, claiming to be First Merchants Bank, regarding their account. The text message contains a phone number they are asked to call. Once called, the automated message identifies itself as being from First Merchants Bank and asks for the callers Social Security Number. If entered, it goes on to ask for the full debit card number of the caller. If the debit card number is entered, it goes on to ask for the full account number. 

This is a fraudulent message and should not be responded to. First Merchants will not ask customers to make phone calls and provide their confidential information that we already have on file.
