For many customers, mobile payment tools like Apple Pay® and Samsung Pay® provide a faster and safer alternative to making payments by swiping your debit card or doling out cash.
Both Apple Pay® and Samsung Pay® offer a convenient and secure way to make purchases at millions of participating retailers across the U.S. By making your First Merchants debit card your default card for Apple Pay® or Samsung Pay®, you can make purchases with just your device. That means that even when you leave your wallet at home, you can complete transactions at retailers who accept Apple Pay® and Samsung Pay®.
Apple Pay® and Samsung Pay® both offer a range of benefits beyond convenience. Both tools provide an added layer of security beyond traditional payment methods including the following features.
- Your full debit card number is never shown to merchants
- Your name and security code aren’t shared with merchants
- All transactions are monitored by First Merchants’ risk and fraud detection systems
- You won’t be held liable for any promptly reported unauthorized transactions
Whether you use an Apple or Samsung device, the set up process is simple.
- How to set up Apple Pay® with your First Merchants debit card:
o Open your Wallet app on your Apple device.
o Tap the plus sign (+)
o Add your First Merchants debit card by positioning your card within the frame. Your camera will automatically record your card’s number. If your phone has difficulty reading your card’s information, you can enter card details manually. Enter the security code found on the back of your card.
o Confirm all your card information is accurate, then follow the on-screen instructions to finalize setup.
o If you’ve already added other cards to Apple Pay®, assign your First Merchants debit card as your default payment option. Go to Settings, Wallet & Apple Pay®, then tap “Default Card” and select your First Merchants card.
- How to set up Samsung Pay® with your First Merchants debit card:
o Open Samsung Pay® on your phone and sign into your Samsung account.
o Tap “Add Card” in the app.
o Add your First Merchants debit card by positioning your card in the camera frame. Your camera will automatically enter your card information. If your phone can’t record your card’s information, you can enter details manually. Enter the security code found on the back of your card.
o Confirm all your card information is accurate, then follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup.
o If prompted, select a delivery method to receive a one-time passcode. Once you receive the code, enter it and tap “Submit.” Provide any additional information to verify and activate your card.
